FarmTech on show at Henty

FarmTech general manager Phil Hartley with Tanco’s TC E100 EcoWrap round bale wrapper for this year’s coming fodder-making season.

The Tanco I73 5’ Jumbo Bale Shear offers a radically new method for feeding out baled silage, while the Tanco Farmers Mate TC E100 EcoWrap is an affordable and reliable round bale wrapper.

FarmTech Machinery general manager Phil Hartley has forecast a buoyant fodder equipment sales season this spring on the back of widespread winter rain and plentiful subsoil moisture.

Mr Hartley described the past two seasons as ‘‘extraordinary’’ for sales of fodder machinery, particularly round and square bale wrappers and slashers. ‘‘It just hasn’t stopped,’’ he said. ‘‘With a flood of cheap Chinese imports, it has been surprising to us how loyal the market has been for slashers built in Australia for Australian conditions. People are happy to pay extra for a well-built Australian machine, which is 100 per cent OH & S compliant and backed by a national warranty and service network.’’

Mr Hartley said the Jumbo Bale Shear split round bales while retaining the plastic or net wrap, eliminating the need for operators to manually cut away the wrap. Featuring semi-automatic joystick control, the TC E100 round bale wrapper has increased stability with swing-out rear wheel assembly and a self-lift end tipping option.

Both are manufactured in Ireland and represent Tanco’s commitment to innovation and accessibility. They will be joined by FarmTech’s comprehensive range of square and round bale handling equipment, grapples, rakes and tedders, swathes/conditioners, V-rakes, slashers, shredders, choppers and feeders at Henty.

On September 18 to 20, the Henty Machinery Field Days are set to attract more than 800 exhibitors on 1100 sites and 50 000 visitors. Mr Hartley said last year’s field days were an outstanding success for FarmTech.

‘‘We sold a 6 m and 7.5 m Agrisem high-speed disc machines off the site on the first day,’’ he said.

‘‘We had a huge three days. We also sold a Tubeline TL 6500 continuous wrapper and a heap of smaller machinery, including materials handling equipment, aerators and slashers.’’

FarmTech remains one of Australia’s leading manufacturers and producers of robust slashing and aeration equipment.

‘‘The GH 2404 2.4 m aerator remains the largest selling aerator in the 60 hp-plus market, while the SGH 180 1.8m model is the largest selling small acreage aerator in Australia,’’ Mr Hartley said.

‘‘These continue to be produced in Albury-Wodonga. The 2.4 m model is popular with dairy farmers wanting to oversow pasture with rye and clover, aerate and break up manure – all in one pass”
